Renewal of the Operating Permit of Ascó Nuclear Power Plant

#Aquí hay energía - ASOCIACIÓN NUCLEAR ASCÓ-VANDELLÓS II

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has renewed the Ascó nuclear power plant Operating Permit. So, unit 1 will be able to continue operating for a further 9 years and unit 2 for further 10 years.

The Nuclear Safety Council, after having analyzed all the submitted documentation by ANAV, issued a favorable report based “both on the verification of the correct operation of the plant and the maintenance of the adequate level of safety to continue its operation, and on the verification of the capacity of the facility to respond to current regulatory requirements that are more demanding than those strictly required in its original design“.

With this new Operating Permit, all the plants operated by ANAV will enter the so-called long-term operation.
