The construction of the Ascó nuclear power plant

#Aquí hay energía - ASOCIACIÓN NUCLEAR ASCÓ-VANDELLÓS II

The construction permits for the two units of the Ascó Nuclear Power Plant were granted in May 1974 and March 1975, respectively. This summary video, made up of  original snapshots from the plant’s construction process, depicts the complexity of such a major project and the great challenges it presented both in terms of engineering and construction. These images truly portray the containment buildings magnitude, two true fortresses of 1.15 metre-thick reinforced concrete walls which are capable of withstanding external impacts. Group I started its commercial operation in December 1974 and Group II did in March 1986.
