FULL VERSION
The project of the European Union for assistance to the Kingdom of Morocco is part of the so-called INSC instrument (Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation). The instrument was launched in 2007, establishing under its umbrella, several action programs as an initiative of the European Union, within the framework of the Euratom Treaty, promoting responses to global challenges in the field of nuclear safety, radiological protection and safeguards. Such Instrument provides assistance to nuclear regulators and technical support organizations (TSOs) with the aim of strengthening the legal and regulatory framework of the beneficiary country.

The project has implementation program of four and a half years, accounts with a budget of 1.6 mill euro to finance the planned activities and, as a whole, involves around 120 people from 9 different organizations.

With more than 98% of the project executed up to date, its success can be concluded and proof of this are the documentary developments obtained that have either already been approved or will be approved soon by the Moroccan authorities. Some examples are: specific Decrees referring to nuclear safety, radiological protection and radioactive waste management, the regulatory framework for emergency preparedness and response, the national safeguards system or the national strategy for the control of orphan sources.
