It is based on the combined action on the tumor cells of two agents that are relatively harmless by themselves, with a very local effect and therefore producing a selective destruction of malignant cells without damaging the surrounding normal cells. This is a therapy under very active research which has provided very promising results in patients with no other therapeutic options.
