El yodo-131 y el lutecio-177, por ejemplo, son los m\u00e1s empleados en\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/threadreaderapp.com\/hashtag\/radioterapia\">#radioterapia<\/a> para el tratamiento de c\u00e1ncer de tiroides y neuroendocrino, respectivamente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ3-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"392\" height=\"264\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ3-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"392\" height=\"264\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00bfY en qu\u00e9 consiste realmente este tratamiento? \ud83e\udd14 En radioterapia, una de las muchas t\u00e9cnicas en uso, la radiaci\u00f3n emitida por los radiois\u00f3topos se hace incidir muy cerca del tumor, destruyendo as\u00ed las c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas y minimizando la interacci\u00f3n con c\u00e9lulas sanas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ4-300x151.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"189\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ4-300x151.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"189\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La mayor\u00eda de los tratamientos se realizan con haces de irradiaci\u00f3n externa al paciente, aunque actualmente est\u00e1 aumentando el uso de radiof\u00e1rmacos \ud83d\udc8a que se introducen en el organismo para combatir el c\u00e1ncer de manera m\u00e1s precisa y segura.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ5-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"309\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ5-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"309\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por otra parte, est\u00e1n los radiois\u00f3topos destinados al diagn\u00f3stico por im\u00e1genes, los cuales se emplean en la mayor\u00eda de procedimientos m\u00e9dicos. En este caso se utilizan emisores gamma. El equipo \ud83d\udc47 es una gammac\u00e1mara, que capta la radiaci\u00f3n y genera las im\u00e1genes de inter\u00e9s \ud83d\udcf8<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ6-300x221.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"287\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ6-300x221.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"287\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El radionucleido, contenido en un radiof\u00e1rmaco, se introduce en el organismo del paciente, ya sea ingerido o por v\u00eda intravenosa \ud83d\udc89 Este se adhiere al \u00f3rgano de inter\u00e9s y se obtienen im\u00e1genes a trav\u00e9s de una gammac\u00e1mara que capta la radiaci\u00f3n gamma liberada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ7-300x183.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"377\" height=\"230\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ7-300x183.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"377\" height=\"230\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En estos casos se utilizan radiois\u00f3topos con una semivida corta. \u26a0\ufe0f Recordad que la semivida se refiere al tiempo que tardan en desintegrarse la mitad de los \u00e1tomos de una sustancia radiactiva. Esta imagen os ayudar\u00e1 a entender bien el concepto.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ8-300x89.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"141\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ8-300x89.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"141\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Tecnecio-99 metaestable es el radiois\u00f3topo m\u00e1s empleado en diagn\u00f3stico por imagen y cuenta con una semivida de tan solo 6h. Esto presenta una ventaja: evita una exposici\u00f3n prolongada a la radiaci\u00f3n, pero tambi\u00e9n es un problema a la hora de transportarlo a los hospitales \ud83c\udfe5<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ9-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"208\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ9-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"208\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por este motivo, se opta por producir su radiois\u00f3topo padre: el Molibdeno-99, que tiene una semivida de 66h. Esto permite que pueda ser transportado hasta los hospitales a tiempo, mientras decae en Tc-99m en unos dispositivos llamados \u201cGeneradores de Tc-99m\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ10-300x135.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"504\" height=\"227\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ10-300x135.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"504\" height=\"227\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Mo-99 se obtiene principalmente como producto de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/threadreaderapp.com\/hashtag\/fisi%C3%B3n\">#fisi\u00f3n<\/a> del Uranio-235 en los denominados Material Testing Reactors (MTR) \u2622\ufe0f Sin embargo, se est\u00e1n explorando nuevas formas de producci\u00f3n, como el uso de aceleradores o su obtenci\u00f3n a partir de la captura electr\u00f3nica del Mo-98.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ11-300x81.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"139\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ11-300x81.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"139\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta b\u00fasqueda de nuevas formas de obtenci\u00f3n del Mo-99 nace de la necesidad de asegurar un suministro continuo frente a la antig\u00fcedad y escasez de los MTR actuales, aunque es cierto que tambi\u00e9n hay nuevos reactores en construcci\u00f3n, como el Jules-Horowitz en Francia \ud83c\uddeb\ud83c\uddf7<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ12-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"248\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ12-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"248\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por otra parte, existen nuevas tecnolog\u00edas como los Accelerated-Driven Systems (ADS), que combinan un acelerador de neutrones con un sistema subcr\u00edtico. Es el caso de SHINE System, ya operativo en \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 y con una futura construcci\u00f3n en \ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddfa (Pa\u00edses Bajos) en 2023. \u00a1Sigue leyendo! \u2615\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ13-276x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"339\" height=\"368\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ13-276x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"339\" height=\"368\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En SHINE, se acelera deuterio y se hace incidir sobre un blanco de tritio, del que nacen por\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/threadreaderapp.com\/hashtag\/fusi%C3%B3n\">#fusi\u00f3n<\/a> neutrones de alta energ\u00eda \ud83d\udca5 (14 MeV). Estos neutrones se introducen en el sistema subcr\u00edtico para mantener la poblaci\u00f3n neutr\u00f3nica constante.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ14-300x171.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"402\" height=\"229\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistanuclear.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/HJ14-300x171.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"402\" height=\"229\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El uso de una fuente externa de neutrones hace que el sistema sea intr\u00ednsecamente m\u00e1s estable. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9? Porque una fuente externa es f\u00e1cil de controlar y, si dejamos de aportar neutrones, el sistema por s\u00ed solo no genera neutrones suficientes para mantener la fisi\u00f3n en cadena.<\/p>\n\n<p dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-controller=\"thread\" data-action=\"click-&gt;thread#showTweet\" data-screenname=\"jjnucleares\" data-tweet=\"1511604385427689477\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"tweet_16\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-controller=\"thread\" data-action=\"click-&gt;thread#showTweet\" data-screenname=\"jjnucleares\" data-tweet=\"1511604385427689477\">En resumen: SHINE consiste en un reactor de fisi\u00f3n (el Mo-99 se obtiene como producto de fisi\u00f3n del uranio-235) cuya poblaci\u00f3n de neutrones se controla mediante una fuente externa (acelerador).
