De hecho, un criterio de dise\u00f1o b\u00e1sico en reactores GEN-IV es no necesitar planes de emergencia exteriores y poder disminuir el radio de baja densidad de poblaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ese principio tiene dos ventajas: minimizar el riesgo y permitir el uso de los reactores para <em>district heating<\/em> o como cogeneraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Las part\u00edculas de combustible TRISO, fabricadas con una capa de carburo de silicio que es capaz de contener en su interior el combustible (UO<sub>2<\/sub>) a temperaturas hasta 1800 \u00baC. Para ello suele ser necesario la disponibilidad el\u00e9ctrica para actuar componentes necesarios para esa refrigeraci\u00f3n (bombas, v\u00e1lvulas, etc).<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-controller=\"thread\" data-action=\"click-&gt;thread#showTweet\" data-screenname=\"fruf82\" data-tweet=\"1324148980134125568\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>Precisamente eso es lo que fall\u00f3 en Fukushima. En un reactor convencional se carga todo el combustible necesario para operar durante 12, 18 o 24 meses. En el HTR-PM hay una carga y descarga continua de combustible.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-controller=\"thread\" data-action=\"click-&gt;thread#showTweet\" data-screenname=\"fruf82\" data-tweet=\"1324149004733657088\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div id=\"tweet_12\" dir=\"auto\" data-controller=\"thread\" data-action=\"click-&gt;thread#showTweet\" data-screenname=\"fruf82\" data-tweet=\"1324149014158364673\">Las esferas de combustible se insertan en el n\u00facleo por el tubo superior y se extraen por el inferior. Una m\u00e1quina analiza el estado de estas esferas. Las que est\u00e9n agotadas o da\u00f1adas se desechan. data-tweet=\"1324149027575910400\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>Si eliminamos la probabilidad de fusi\u00f3n del n\u00facleo desaparece la necesidad de proteger a la poblaci\u00f3n y el medioambiente de los potenciales riesgos de la dispersi\u00f3n del material radiactivo contenido en n\u00facleo del reactor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Pues ya hemos visto que el combustible es UO<sub>2<\/sub> en part\u00edculas TRISO contenidas en una matriz de grafito que ejerce de moderador de neutrones.
