The article explores the social face of radon gas. From a communicative perspective, it reflects on the importance of crisis communication, public perception and literacy in this field.

Initially, a brief review is made of the context in which we find ourselves, the fourth wave of digital communication, radon gas communication is addressed as a social construct with specific characteristics and some challenges for the future are pointed out.

The article is part of the research funded by the Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear Radón en España: percepción de la opinión pública, agenda mediática y comunicación del riesgo (RAPAC).
