Energy transition is a pathway toward transformation of the sector where the transmission grid will play a leading role. On one hand, it will be key to foster economy-wide electrification as a result of decarbonisation. On the other hand, it will enable renewable energy evacuation.
In order to achieve these goals, the grid must be updated to become smarter and more robust, reliable and interconnected. This will need bigger investment adjustments, as well as regulatory changes intended to increase the flexibility of the grid development processes.
Moreover, betting high on tools like energy storage or demand management measures will be needed, which are essential to operate the system in a more flexible way and increase energy supply security.
